Apple’s Vision Pro faces trademark issue as Huawei holds rights

Ana sayfa / Wearables

Apple recently announced its new eyewear called Vision Pro, which is an augmented reality headset that stands out with its design and features. However, it is reported that Apple will face a significant issue in China. It has been stated that Huawei has held the rights to the name “Vision Pro” since 2019, and Apple might have to change the name.

Will Apple acquire the “Vision Pro” rights from Huawei?

Reports from China indicate that Apple will encounter some problems regarding the name rights of Vision Pro. Huawei registered the name “Vision Pro” on May 16, 2019. According to this registration, the Chinese company has the right to use this name for various products, such as photography, cinematography, and LCD TVs.

Furthermore, examining the documents in China reveals that Huawei has licensed the Vision Pro brand until 2031. Although the company does not currently have a product in this field, they can prefer the name Vision Pro for virtual reality devices.

However, it is worth noting that Huawei’s trademark registration is not directly related to Apple. The company already produces two product series associated with the name Vision, including Vision Glass and Vision Smart Screen. It is possible that the name Vision Pro could be added as a new model to the Vision Smart Screen series.

It is unknown how Apple will proceed in this matter. To avoid infringing on Huawei’s rights, Apple might release Vision Pro under a different name in China. Alternatively, they could negotiate with Huawei to use the Vision Pro brand.

Apple has not announced the release date for the Vision Pro eyewear. However, with its price tag of $3,499, it is expected to have a significant impact worldwide.
